Of course, in the age of “smart” digital devices, wearing a watch is not necessary. But why is it that even those who can afford the most advanced and fashionable mobile gadget do not give up their wristwatches?

Probably because the watch is not a trivial measuring device, but a stylish, status accessory, an important detail that forms the image.

But choosing a suitable model is not an easy task. There is a huge, confusing variety of watches in the windows, with different mechanisms inside, technical characteristics, additional functions … All these nuances do not make the choice easier.

So, counting time accessory, which we wear on our wrist, appeared in the XVI century. But it was only a female ornament, a whim of rich ladies.

Only a century and a half later, wristwatches were worn by men, who previously preferred pocket watches with chains.

Since then, the wrist watches are divided into men’s and women’s. However, there are also unisex watches, as well as children’s watches.
Secondly, the wrist watches are divided into:

• classic. These are watches with conservative structure and restrained design, which, as a rule, have one function – to count down the time.
• Compound – devices with additional functionality (it can include compass, pedometer, barometer, etc.).
• Sports – for their manufacture use particularly durable materials.
• Chronometers: these are devices with increased accuracy and rate stability.
• Chronographs: movements with an autonomous stopwatch.
• Designer watches are pieces of author’s work.
• Skeleton watches are mechanical or quartz devices with a partially or completely open “gut”. Their wheels and gears are visible through the intentionally left “windows”.
• A jewelry watch is an accessory that combines clockwork and decorative bracelet made of noble metal with inclusions of precious stones.
• Evening – stylists say it should be as expensive as possible. For going out, the most suitable is a branded mechanical device with hands, complete with a strap of leather.
• A smart or SMART watch is practically a miniature computer worn on your arm.
